As week one of the Reid project comes to an end, I thought I would update on how what has been done. This week started with a bang and with that I mean a bang. Volunteers started swinging hammers to tear down the walls at the Reid's house. At this point I always get a little nervous. We have gotten to the point where construction will begin.
As I was pulling out nails from the original frame of the house last night, I couldn't help but think about how symbolic this is. Last year, the Reid's went through a year of the Training School at Common Ground Christian Church. At about this point in the year most of our ideas about christianity and religion were being destroyed. At the end of the year and continuing today our faith and values are being rebuilt into a faith that is practical and relational.
So the house is somewhat similar. It was functional and wonderful for the Reid family before August 12, but needs to be restructured in order for them to live life comfortably as a family again.

Today is the day to start changing the frame of the inside of the house. Taking out walls and putting new ones in is all part of the process.
Thanks to everyone who has helped out so far and for all who are planning on coming! I know Jeremy is working really hard to get this done on time and he appreciates any help you can offer.
Enjoy pictures taken from this week....I look forward to the end product.
